Abstract
Naresh K Vats in his paper “Translating from Page to Screen: A Study of the Adaptations of Milan Kudera’s The Unbearable Lightness of Being and Anita Desai’s In Custody” evaluates The Unbearable lightness of Being (1988), directed by Philip Kaufman, screenplay by Jean-Claude Carrière and Philip Kaufman, from the novel by Milan Kundera and National Award winning film Muhafiz (1993) as adaptation of Anita Desai’s Booker prize nominated novel In Custody (1984).
